List of songs/albums
'Eusexua'
by FKA twigs - no clue how we're so early on in the year and I've probably already found my album of the year. The production on this album is genuinely amazing and extremely unique. I can't say that I've heard much from FKA twigs but if her other music is like most of this album, I'll probably find myself becoming a massive fan of hers!
- stand out track Eusexua - I think that the title song of this album is one of, if not its strongest. It really gets across the vibe which twigs was trying to ge across with the euphoric feeling of dancing and just being able to lose yourself in the beat of the song
'Initiations'
by Burial Hex - I found this album strangely on vinly in a record store in my local city not really knowing what the album was besides it being labelled as industrial. When looking up the band(more accurately singular guy) I found out that the music he makes is classified as death industrial, which is honestly a very good descriptor for this album. The first track genuinely feels like a nightmare realised in the form of industrial death noise, so wouldnt reccomend listening before bed. Very solid work though!
- Stand Out Track Will To The Chapel - The genuine fear that this truly incredable soundscape is able to make me experience is unlike any ive ever felt from any other piece of music before in my life. A life changing piece for sure!
'brat'
by Charli XCX - this is in my eyes basically a perfect album, the only song that I don't like as much as all of the other ones is probably 'Mean Girls' but even that one is nowhere near bad. truly was my album of 2024. Additionally, the later released remix album also has some increadible music on it, I'm moslty talking about the 'Talk Talk' and '365' remixes as they are in my opinion the best of the remixes. If you havent listened to it yet, you are genuinely missing out hugely on some AMAZING music!
- Stand Out Track actually sooooooooo hard to narrow down so i'm doing a top three, those being 'Club Classics', insanely addictive, almost euphoric sound, great to dance to. 'Everything is Romantic', another absolutely amazing piece from Charli, I am literally in love with this song icl. '365', whenever this comes on I literally have to dance, like i can't stop, it's insane, although I am mostly referring to the remix when saying that, the original is still great!
'Debut'
by Bjork - I started listening to Bjork about a year ago and she has like genuinely been life changing when it comes to my taste in music i can't lie. This album in specific is like really really good, truly insane that this was her 'debut' album just because of how genuinely great it truly is,defo an album that I think everyone should listen to at least once in their lives due to its tremendous display of pure talent.
- stand out track 'Venus as a boy' - truly an absolute masterpiece of a song icl, genuinely insane that this is one of her first songs on her album. Actual masterpiece of music writing for real.
'Vespertine'
by Bjork - Another Bjork album, but suprise supreise this one was also absolutely amazing. It is genuinely so impressive to me that her first four albums are all complete masterpieces, but the fact that they were released literally one after the other makes this even more amazing. Absoultely a must listen as are all of her albums that I've listened to, AMAZING truly.
- stand out track - 'Heirloom' - some of the most beautiful and dreamlike imagery of any of her albums that I've listened to so far. I can barely write lyrics that sound that good, but to mix the beauty of the vocals with the fast hitting electronic drums breaks is pure genius from her, I know that she's done it before but this is I feel her best use of thsi contrast from what I've listened to so far.
'WLFGRL'
by Machine Girl - Really great, very dancy album from Machine Girl, I typically really love a lot of his music and this album is no different. The fast and hard drum breaks, give a lot of the songs a really great, classic breakcore feelking which is something that I tend to really like in a lot of my dancier music. Overall really solid album from Machine Girl.
- stand out track -'out by 16, dead on the scene' - I am in love with the samples pulled from the film 'Ginger Snaps' they go so incredibly well with the vibe of the piece along with the often dark feeling of the rest of the album.
